Jacqui Devereux
Versatile
Brisbane Mezzo Jacqui Devereux has many stylistic strings to her
bow and is accomplished and experienced in opera, musical theatre,
recital, revue, and cabaret work.
Stage roles include Zita in Gianni Schicchi at South Bank,
Marcellina in Marriage of Figaro for for Brisbane's Stage
X Festival, Reno in Anything Goes and Sally in Call
Me Madam as well as chorus work for Opera Queensland. She has
worked with some of the most prominent names in Australian Musical
Theatre (John Frost, Peter Casey, Christopher Renshaw). Jacqui has
appeared in numerous classical and contemporary concerts and recitals
in the last 5 years due to the flexibility of her vocal and stylistic
abilities, the latest being a foray into cabaret performance including
the inaugural Brisbane Cabaret Festival. She is a well known and
highly regarded artist and teacher in the realm of contemporary
singing and musical theatre.
Jacqui has conducted master classes and seminars throughout Brisbane
and is highly sought after as a teacher. She teaches both adults
and children, professionals and amateurs, and a high percentage
of her students have gained entry to prestigious courses majoring
in contemporary and musical theatre performance (QUT, WAAPA) and
been cast in professional musical and cabaret shows. Jacqui brings
to her teaching, not only a wealth of experience and knowledge,
but also her exemplary communication skills, her sense of humour,
positive nature and passion for her craft.
