Our Advanced Diploma of Art (Dance Performance / Musical Theatre) course is fully accredited and a nationally recognised training course, with Austudy / Abstudy and Youth Allowance and CRICOS (01600A) approval.

The course incorporates two main areas of specialisation - Dance Performance and Musical Theatre. In the first Semester, all students undertake units that provide "a taste" of both specialisations, so there is an opportunity for them to change their area of focus at the end of Semester 1.

The Advanced Diploma level qualification (two years full-time) contains two other exit point qualifications that are nested within the course structure. What this means is that students who obtain a position prior to completion of the Advanced Diploma, may be able to exit the course with either a Diploma (18 Months) or Certificate IV (12 Months) qualification as long as they have completed all of the requirements for one of these awards. Students who exit prior to completing all of the units for a qualification will be given a Statement of Attainment for those units that they have achieved at the date of exit.

Entry into the course is available to students after completion of year 10 in secondary schooling (Queensland) or its equivalent.

With the subjects that we offer, students are provided with in-depth training in their areas of specialisation (either Dance Performance or Musical Theatre) and with their elective choices they are provided with a broader set of skills and employment opportunities.

Entrance is by audition and interview. Auditions are by arrangement. Please advise the centre of your interest and information will be sent to you. If you are unable to travel to Brisbane you may submit a short video (VHS format) showing barre, priouettes, adage, allegro, pointe, and solo (classical, jazz, tap or contemporary) and a written piece explaining why you wish to join our course and your future aspirations in the area of dance.

On successful completion, application can be made to  QTAC where  a ranking of 91 or higher will be granted and an OP equivalent between 2 and 6 will be advised.   Students entering after Year 10 are encouraged to continue with Years 11 & 12 English through the Brisbane School of Distance Education. A Tutor is employed by ADPI to assist them with their studies.

In addition Overseas students must have:

  • Student Visa
  • Health Insurance
  • IELTS 5.5 level or equivalent in English Language skills before entering selected academic modules
Home Stay, Airport Pick-up and English Language classes can be arranged.
